Throughout high school I was always known as the “little one.” I weighed less than 100 pounds and the only workout I ever got was dancing. Since I was already so tiny and thin, I didn't feel a need to explore the gym. When I graduated high school and went to college I was introduced to beer, fast food, and sleepless nights.

Screen_Shot_2016-05-10_at_11.03.33_AM.pngAt the age of 18, I applied at HealthSPORT and was hired on to work the Cafe 4 days a week. At that time, I was working overnights at Target, working the Cafe in the mornings, and going to school in the evenings. I was still small and had no time to even think about squeezing in a workout.

Fast forward a couple years and I am now 20. I so badly wanted a tattoo but my mother was adamant that I was not getting one! I begged and begged everyday, hoping she would give in. She finally made a deal with me that if I hit 110 pounds and maintained it for a week, I could get one. Both of us had no hope, but I was determined to find a way. At this time, HealthSPORT introduced HSP Fit. I figured, why not give it a try!

Once I got involved with the program, Daniel Moorhouse wouldn't take no for an answer and would call me out every time I couldn't make it to a class because of a prior arrangement (aka I made excuses like "I have a hair appointment today"). After a few months, I started to see some changes. I even remember taking my first progress picture and tearing up at the progress I made. I could finally see some definition in my weak little arms. But the thing that motivated and shocked me the most was looking down at that scale and seeing 110 lbs. Needless to say, I won the bet and got my tattoo.

While I was so happy to work so hard for something I really wanted, it wasn't about the tattoo anymore... it was about ME and my body! Starting the program I walked in at a whopping 103 pounds and 24% body fat. I now stand at an impressive 127 pounds and 18% body fat.

I was so happy with my results and owe it all to my coaches. After seeing what a difference they made in my life, I knew I wanted to do the same for others.

In June 2015, I excitedly announced that I purchased my National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Training package. After 4 months of intense studying, 4 packs of index flash cards, 32 hours in the ACE Prep Course with Susan, and LOTS of tears, I headed down to Santa Rosa to take my Personal Training test. To my surprise, I PASSED! I couldn't wait to get back home and tell everyone!

I started training in January this year. I remember training my first client and thinking "oh boy.... what am I doing?" Since then, I've gained 15 clients and 6 classes. I love the team building experiences, learning new techniques and modifications for those with limitations, the smiles on the client's faces as they leave class, and the warmth in my heart knowing I just helped them towards achieving their goals! My new outlook on fitness has totally flipped, now I want to inspire people. I want them to look at me and say, "because of you, I didn't give up"!

When I received the email from Alloy, I immediately forwarded it to Megan asking if it was a scam. She giggled and said "ALLOY ISN'T A SCAM SYD!" I freaked out and started texting everyone and shouting it to the world. I knew at that point that this is where I wanted to be and that I chose the right career. In the short amount of time that I've been working as a trainer I could not believe I would be the chosen one though!

Words cannot express how much I LOVE what I do and how much gratification I receive from all my clients! I love the pathway I am on and hope to continue down this road to see what comes next!
